Hugh Freeze Inks Mega-Deal, Becoming Highest-Paid Group of Five Coach

Contract Worth $39 Million Guaranteed Through 2030

Auburn Seals 6-Year Agreement with Top-Tier Football Leader

In a historic move, Hugh Freeze has secured a groundbreaking contract with Auburn University, making him the highest-paid coach in the Group of Five conference. The six-year deal guarantees Freeze a staggering average salary of $6.5 million per year, totaling $39 million over the duration of the contract.

The contract represents a major coup for Auburn, which has long sought to elevate its football program to the elite level. Freeze, known for his aggressive style of play and exceptional recruiting abilities, is expected to bring a new era of success to the Tigers.

"We are thrilled to have Hugh Freeze as our next head coach," said Auburn Athletics Director John Cohen. "His proven track record of success and unwavering commitment to excellence make him the perfect fit for our program. We are confident that he will lead Auburn Football to new heights."

Freeze expressed his gratitude for the opportunity to lead Auburn Football.

"I am truly humbled and excited to join the Auburn family," said Freeze. "This is a program with a rich tradition and passionate fans. I can't wait to get started and build on the success that has come before me."

Before joining Auburn, Freeze had a successful tenure at Ole Miss, where he compiled a 33-12 record from 2012 to 2016. He was fired from Ole Miss in 2017 due to personal misconduct allegations. Since then, he has served as Liberty University's head coach, where he has led the Flames to consecutive bowl game appearances.
