Benfica are aiming to reach the semi-finals of a major European competition for the first time since 2017 when they face Marseille in the first leg of their Europa League quarterfinal clash on Thursday.
The Portuguese giants have a strong record in the Europa League, having won the competition twice in 1983 and 2014. However, they have yet to reach the semi-finals since their last triumph in 2014.
Benfica will be looking to build on their impressive performance in the group stage, where they won five of their six matches and finished top of Group D. They also defeated Zenit Saint Petersburg in the round of 16 to reach the quarter-finals.
